Cancer's climate innovation

An enzyme inspired by brain cancer DNA that has the potential to slash greenhouse gas emissions from the production of nylon won the 2024 Cambridge Climate Challenge.

Kevin Wu, an MPhil student in Medical Science based at the CRUK Cambridge Institute was part of 'Team Benign', which developed a start-up business model based on an enzyme inspired by brain cancer DNA to drastically reduce the environmental impact of producing nylon for everything from stockings to swimwear.
