Lung in a lab

Do you want to know how to grow a lung in a lab? Back our latest crowdfunding campaign to beat cancer.

Dr Michaela Frye and Dr Ferda Oeztuerk-Winder of the Stem Cell Institute are crowdfunding for a research project that will grow a lung in a lab.

They will be using adult stem cells to grow a 3D part of human lung in the lab. Up until now scientists have only been able to study the lung and lung cancer in 2D so the extra understanding of how the lung works and what happens when lung cancer is introduced, could have a massive impact on future treatments.

Check out their Lung in a lab crowdfunding campaign and help them make this project a reality by reaching their target of £75,000.

For a donation of over £10 you will receive a postcard of a lung cell image, for £50 you will be sent a message in a petri dish, and if you give over £250 you can have a one-2-one with Michaela to find out more about their research project.

Please support the project by making a pledge or share by email or on Facebook. We can’t do it without you.
