Congratulations to Dr Peter Campbell and Professor Tim Eisen who have been elected as Fellows of the Academy of Medical Sciences.
They join 48 leading researchers in the biomedical and health sciences to be awarded the prestigious Fellowship of the Academy.
The 50 newly-elected Fellows have been selected for their outstanding contributions to advancing medical science, cutting edge research discoveries, and translating developments into benefits for patients and wider society. Many of the new Fellows have also made a contribution to medical science through outstanding leadership, public engagement and supporting the career advancement of junior trainees.
This year's elected Fellows have expertise spanning global health, virology, women’s health, medical statistics, health policy, cancer genetics, allergy and emergency care medicine, among many other fields.
Dr Peter Campbell is Head of the Cancer, Ageing, and Somatic Mutations Programme at the Wellcome Sanger Institute, and a member of the Haematological Malignancies Programme.
Professor Timothy Eisen, is Vice-president and Head of Oncology Early Clinical Development at AstraZeneca. He is also Professor of Medical Oncology at the University of Cambridge and a member of the Urological Malignancies Programme.
